The Forlorn Hope

The Forlorn Hope
There is barrage in Heaven,
There are salvos in Hell
And menacing calm in-between.
All treaties are broken,
All trust is forgotten,
Piles of paper are caving-in.
The words ooze out venom,
Deeds are swollen with pus,
Once proud banners are soiled and torn.
So keep your flint and your powder dry,
The Forlorn Hope marches on.
Gold has turned into copper,
Stone has turned into mud
And thoughts are turning to lead.
The screaming throats are hoarse,
The clenched fists are raised
And the living envy the dead.
The nights bring no rest,
The days shed no light,
Time itself is choking with storm.
So tie your bayonet tight to your gun,
The Forlorn Hope marches on.
There are salvos in Heaven,
There is barrage in Hell
And deafening calm in-between.
Comrades have fallen,
Commanders have fled,
Reinforcements are not to be seen.
Staff is bought by the enemy,
Front has collapsed,
Once proud banners are soiled and torn.
So don’t let your saber stay sheathed for too long,
The Forlorn Hope marches on.

The Siege

The Siege
Dead-pale children,
Mumbling crones,
Barbed wires,
Broken bones,
Old stale peace,
Red brick wall,
Bald pinky dwarves won some fake war.
They come overwhelming,
Like locust for wheat!
The enemies are gathering,
Be ready for the siege!
Rusty grates,
Last year’s snow,
Cracked tiles,
Cold wind’s howl,
Withered grass,
Stunted trees,
Marching rats and their melody.
Closed circles,
Parallel lines,
Linear spaces,
Straight timelines,
Conservation laws,
Forbidden states,
Tyrant with a donkey head.
